Chittenden's Sweet Apple Cider

Chittenden’s Apple Cider has been in production and delighting scores of folks for decades. While the business structure of our cider facility has changed throughout the years, we always believe that the best apple cider comes from Vermont grown apples minimally processed and treated with UV light for safety. In the coming years, we will be evolving into a consumer facing processing facility that is focused on small batch production for local and home growers. What is Ultraviolet Light (U.V.) treatment?

Ultraviolet Light (U.V.) treatment is a process used to achieve the FDA standards for bacteria elimination. It's very important that our product is as safe as it is delicious to consume. U.V. treatment actually exceeds what is required by the FDA standards. Most of us think of Pasteurization when it comes to food safety, however, U.V. treatment is a completely different process yielding the same out come. Pasteurization involves heating the product to a desired temperature to kill bacteria while UV treatment uses Ultraviolet light to achieve the same result. This means that our Cider is never heated, which Cider connoisseurs insist gives our Cider a natural more robust flavor.
